Many have seen the videos from an attempted heist of a cash transport truck in South Africa. If you haven’t, you can find them here as the encounter is captured on dash cameras from inside the cash truck, a Toyota Land Cruiser. In the video you see two crew members, a driver and passenger, who are traveling on a highway in South Africa when suddenly they come under fire from armed robbers. Rifle rounds hit the Land Cruiser windows which are bullet proof and the driver starts taking evasive action to get out of the kill zone. Through out the entire encounter, you can see the driver remains calm and directs his partner while driving and being shoot at… who is this legend?
His name is Leo Prinsloo and he is a former member of the South African Police Service Special Task Force (SAPS) which is an elite branch of their police force operating essentially like their version of SWAT and FBI HRT. While serving for SAPS he was their sniper and instructor, but If that wasn’t enough of a resume, he has since been in private security. He currently works for Fortis Pro Active Defence Solutions where is the head instructor of their Lone Operator course in which he teaches the application of firearms in kinetic situations. Before that, Prinsloo worked for The Edge Shooting Academy as an instructor. If you think he’s just some washed up 52 year old vet, you should also know that in his spare time Prinsloo competes in annual marathons to keep his body in peak physical shape.
Watch the videos, and if you ever get a chance take one of his courses. As Prinsloo says, “It’s a state of mind.. be able. Be ready. Be competent. Stay safe!”
