This occurred back in November 2017 when a Ukrainian sabotage-recon group attempted an operation in the Donbas region and ultimately paid with their lives. It includes a Russian perspective on this battle as well.
This video is now infamous amongst training operators as it shows how easy it is to track troop movement with personal cellphones. It is alleged that the Russians had a make shift cellphone tower setup that was collecting pings of phones. When they realized they were receiving a bunch suddenly they knew an attack was imminent and were able to surprise the Ukrainians.
