Under Armour needs no introduction as a clothing brand. They have been really expanding into the tactical market the last few years and have made great progress in clothing such as pants. Today, we take a look at the Storm Covert Tactical pants which are marketed as work pants. Under Armour themselves sells these with the tag line “We built these pants to keep you comfortable and focused through your longest shifts. And they’re durable enough to hold up to whatever you’re doing, but also light and quick-drying so you can move”.

So let’s take a closer look at the Storm Covert Tactical pants by Under Armour. The initial feel is nice, the pants on the outside feel like they are durable and warm. On the inside, they feel comfortable with a soft material that isn’t going to be abrasive on your skin. They are loose, with a fuller cut for complete comfort. The waistband in particular is stretch-engineered which makes for excellent mobility and comfort.

Under Armour lists the specifications as 100% Polyester and it is obviously some sort of specific blend. It should be noted that Under Armour uses a. DWR finish on pretty much their entire “Storm” line up including the Covert Tactical pants. The DWR finish repels water but keeps the material breathable which is a nice touch. The Covert Tactical pants also feature anti-odor technology which prevents odor causing microbes from getting into the material. This might be part of the DWR finish but I cannot confirm that. As far as durability, the material is ultra-durable ripstop fabric which makes these as tough as any other tactical pant out there.

Personally, I really enjoy these pants. I love that the finish is straight leg on all of them and that waist is stretch-engineered. I find this combination makes for an excellent fit and I did not have to change my normal sizing. Lately I have noticed that many manufacturers are sticking a ton of Velcro on their tactical pants and I actually hate that. Velcro collects lint and then it becomes unusable while these pants use snaps on the pockets which I find makes them far more reliable. A nice touch for any tactical pant is to have reinforced knees, and Under Armour includes that on these along with a reinforced crotch as well. I wore these over several training days for up to 12 hours on each day and had no issues with them. I found the dual cargo pockets with internal mag holders to be very handy on those training days. I was able to test them out for mobility by doing several sprints and having to bend and move and shoot. I found no issues with the Storm Covert Tactical pants while doing any of this.

In conclusion, the Under Armour Storm Covert Tactical pants are a solid buy. They are a true fit which makes them super easy to buy and at an average cost of $60, you really cannot beat them for value. 8/10.
