SureFire needs no introduction on the tactical flashlight stage. What originally started as a laser products company quickly escalated into weapon-mounted lights and laser sights, shield lights, baton lights and hand-held lights. The company has largely been focused on the tactical market and they do such a good job they are often the brand of choice for professionals in the field.

For this review, we are looking at the SureFire G2X Pro Tactical flashlight. This flashlight is marketed as a “virtually indestructible” efficient flashlight that produces 600 lumens of light. The G2X Pro is 5.2 inches in length and takes two CR123A batteries keeping the body light. In the box you will get the light, two SureFire CR123A batteries, and manuals. I personally love the looks of the G2X Pro as it just looks durable. It is made primarily from Nitrolon polymer which is some pretty durable material. The bezel is aircraft grade anodized aluminum that has been powder coated to match the polymer keeping it looking “tactical”. The G2X Pro feels good in the hands while being lightweight but not giving off a cheap feel. As soon as you grab the light you immediately feel how well belt it is with nothing loose or rattling.

The entire light is controlled by one button which is on the tail of the light and made from textured rubber. This is also the same material on the grip which wraps the polymer body. This of course does make the G2X Pro feel just perfect in the hands. Looking at the rest of the flashlight build gives you confidence that this thing will take a drop or two. SureFire has also implemented gaskets around the light and an O-Ring seal to make it waterproof.

As far as usability the G2X Pro will give off 600 lumens and last for 1.5 hours at the maximum output. It can also produce a low of 15 lumens and run that for 52 hours. The throw distance of the light is a respectable 187 meters. To turn on the light just press the tail click. To flip through the different modes, power up the flashlight then turn it off and tap it again quickly. I know some users might think that 600 lumens seems light and I have to admit I thought the same thing as soon as I get it.

However, I have to say I am relatively pleased with the performance of the G2X Pro. The 600 lumens with the 187 meter throw feels great. There is a lot of light here all compacted in a great package that can easily be everyday carried. I also think it would be difficult to find a flashlight in this pricepoint that offers the same good runtimes, waterproofing, shock resistance, and an excellent body. For reference, the price point is around $70 which is not bad at all what for what you are getting.

In conclusion, if you want a USA made tactical flashlight that has an excellent build with good light outputs, then you should grab a SureFire G2X Pro. 8/10.
