About a year ago I posted about these boots as one of the surprise features on our top boots 2020. Out of all the boots on that list, I got the most questions regarding these. I do know Smith & Wesson had these on sale a few times which has gotten them more attention over their competitors. So how good are they?

Smith & Wesson is obviously a well-known American manufacturer of firearms, ammunition and restraints. This is a company that was founded in 1856 and became quickly known for their revolvers. From there they expanded their production line into repeating rifles and the rest is legendary. Today, Smith & Wesson is still known for their guns and ammunition which are well respected and rated in their respective market segments.

However, the company has also become known in the law enforcement world for their excellent handcuffs which have become standard issue amongst most law enforcement agencies across North America. It was this segment that had Smith & Wesson wondering, well what else could me promote to law enforcement to further expand our product line? They decided to go for the boot market after entering a licensing agreement with North Carolina-based Wellco Enterprises to design and distribute a full line of tactical law enforcement footwear. One of their main boots has been the Smith & Wesson Breach 2.0.

Smith & Wesson had these designed for law enforcement use so they are supposed to be comfortable while being able to take a beating. When you first look at the boot, you can see it looks like it could definitely take a beating. I think they did a good job of making the Breach boots a good-looking set of boots that are made from leather and nylon which makes them durable and lightweight at the same time. The Breach 2.0 are also fitted with a gusseted tongue which protects your feet from debris as it encloses your foot in keeping them safe and clean. Finally, the Breach 2.0 feature HydroGuard waterproof technology which makes them waterproof to an extent.

So how do they feel on the feet? Honestly, the Breach 2.0 is one of the most comfortable pair of boots I’ve ever worn, at any price point. Seriously. The Breach 2.0 boots have additional support and use midsole technology that keep your feet in proper posture. Part of the additional supports is the addition of a steel shank which really ensures that no matter what terrain you tackle your foot will keep the proper posture. I like the side zippers which allow you to just slip the Breach 2.0s on and away you go. The zippers are YKK zippers which means they will probably outlast the boot. The outside soles are rubberized and slip resistant which makes sure that you can tackle any landscape without issue.

You can get the Breach 2.0 in a black or a coyote brown, with either color still being done in the same finish. The price point is the same for either finish, coming in at around $100 depending on where you get it. At that price point you are getting a lot of boot for not a whole lot of money. 8.5/10.
