GORUCK has been a company whose products we have featured several times here in the past and for good reason. They are an American sporting equipment company that was founded in 2008 and is based out of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. GORUCK has become known for making backpacks and rucksacks which have done very well during reviews. The company also expanded into other markets such as hiking boots, pants, shorts, shirts, light jackets, and hats. They have developed a reputation for building tough gear targeted at first responders, military personnel and outdoors men and women. Today we are going to take a look at the GORUCK Challenge Pants.
The GORUCK Challenge Pants have been around for a while now, I believe since 2015 specifically and I have used them for years before, so I am aware of what they are capable of. I have personally worn them mostly because their comfort level is incredible; these will be some of the most comfortable pants you will ever wear. I think this has a lot to do with GORUCK’s proprietary blend which is made up of 94% Nylon and 6% Spandex. This is great because the Nylon ensures the pants are tough and abrasion resistant while the spandex gives it some stretch making them fit more comfortably. Seriously, you can freely move around but now the pants can take a beating. Whether that includes doing squats and deadlifts at the gym or yoga in the park, they will work without restriction.
The material weight is lightweight so much that you can fold down the pants into the size of a 12oz can of Budweiser (as famously advertised on their website). Some will say that the pants are a little too light for colder weather but they make it easy to layer up so it’s very possible to continue wearing them as it gets colder. They are water resistant but of course will absorb water if exposed to enough it, with general spills simply rolling right off of them. As far as care is concerned, you barely even have to iron them to get them clear of those wrinkles as the material is also mostly wrinkle free.
Now as far as utility, they are handy. You get 4 pockets with 2 being in the front and 2 being cargo as well as belt loops. The pockets are well sized to fit most common items such as wallets, phones, keys, etc. The cargo pockets feature interior drain holes and zip securely to the back. The back pockets are nice because they flip inside out for easy cleaning and removal of items.
In conclusion, I find the GORUCK Challenge Pants to be a solid buy for pretty much any wear you want. They are versatile and durable, up for any challenge and they fit incredibly well. They also look better than most other pants on the market. 8.5/100.
