Most tactical backpacks on the market are by nature marketed as “survival” packs while others are being marketed as military bags. Unfortunately, this usually makes them rather larger as both styles of bags require lots of space. Those shopping a survival pack or military bag are looking for a ton of space, the equivalent of backpacks that are used for 48-72 hours at minimal.
So what about someone who wants a smaller pack? Those who are looking for perhaps a daypack or something that is more of an EDC (everyday carry) style?

Condor Compact Assault Pack – $45-55
Condor took a different approach to the game with the Compact Assault pack by designing it to be basically a go bag. This is really nice as its was made with the idea that things should be accessible quickly. One of the smallest bags on this list with 1362 cubic inches of space.
SOG Ninja Tactical Daypack – $30-45
SOG is making waves in the entry levels of tactical gear from knives to backpacks. Their Ninja tactical backpack is made for toughness and fortified with strong zippers. You will get 1475 cubic inches f storage that is easy to organize through several storage compartments.
Maxpedition Lithvore Backpack – $130-150
The Lithvore is an ergonomic backpack with padded shoulder straps made out of 100% nylon. There is a top loop field for patch adhesion, a front admin pocket for added organization, a bottom shock cord retention array, two (2) expandable bottle pockets with dual zipper garages, and a fully opening main compartment.
